“If It Isn’t Love” was released in 1988. It was the first single off New Edition’s album Heart Break. New Edition began in Boston. “The first incarnation of the group came together in 1978 in Roxbury’s Orchard Park Projects, just a few miles from my home in Dorchester. In the late ‘70’s, the 350-unit cement public housing complex was one of the toughest spots in the city—an honor it would lose only when it was torn down in 1998.” (Why Doesn’t Boston Give New Edition Their Due? Both New Edition and their song “If It Isn’t Love” are beginning to enjoy a resurgence of popularity. On December 2, 2019 the Seattle Seahawks delighted fans with an homage to New Edition’s hit song. “After a 60-yard touchdown from wide receiver David Moore, some of the offensive squad broke into dance mimicking New Edition’s ‘If It Isn’t Love’ music video, and just like their epic TD, they crushed it.” (Seahawks Nail New Edition’s “If It Isn’t Love” Touchdown Dance Win Over Vikings by Shanna McCarriston, Dec.3, 2019, cbssports.com)
