About Michael Torke:
Michael Torke’s work has been described as "some of the most optimistic, joyful and thoroughly uplifting music to appear in recent years" (Gramophone). Hailed as a "vitally inventive composer" (Financial Times) and "a master orchestrator whose shimmering timbral palette makes him the Ravel of his generation" (New York Times), Torke has created a substantial body of works in virtually every genre; his recent piece SKY, written for violinist Tessa Lark, was a finalist for the 2020 Pulitzer Prize, and was nominated for a Grammy® award for “best classical instrument solo.”

About the Interviewer:
Zoe Alexandra Pančić is an emerging conductor, long-time musician, and tall ship sailor from the United States. A classically trained violinist, she turned to conducting in 2024, where she received her Masters in Fine Arts in conducting from the American College Dublin. This year she made her international debut as an orchestral conductor with the Vratsa Symphony Orchestra in Bulgaria. Along with this craft, she has had a career as a solo traditional fiddle player since 2020, starting on tall ships in America and working her way to performing on Bulgarian National Television as a way to keep maritime culture alive in the arts. Her passion for music and its power to strengthen community have let her travel across continents and collaborate with orchestras, composers, singers, and folk bands from all over the world. She currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts.
