“Boys Don’t Cry” was the second single released off of The Cure’s first compilation album of the same name. The song was released in 1979, while the album was released in 1980. While the song wasn’t a hit on its original release, it was remixed, re-recorded in rereleased in 1986, where it became more of a hit. It ended up charting at #22 on the UK Billboard charts. It was later covered by Nathan Larson in 1999 for the film Boys Don’t Cry. Hillary Swank would receive an Oscar for Best Actress from that film. The song is still renowned as one of The Cure’s most well-known and iconic songs.
